Like many kids. I started going hunting with my dad before I was old enough to carry a gun. I did the same with my kids. My son got interested in goose and duck calling after he started hunting. He practiced everyday after school and it was never quiet in our house. He decided he wanted to try going to a competition and see how it could do. After his first one we traveled to some local competitions and even traveled a few hours away to some. He was invited to visit one of the top goose call makers shop and see how they made their calls. This gave him a thought that he wanted a call that we designed and made ourselves. I work in a machine shop and came up with a design and talked to a guy in the shop to run a few on our CNC lathes. They worked well and we sold some and we still use ours today. I wanted to look at making turkey calls. I researched where to buy components and we made a few calls. Our first ones were out of PVC plastic. We moved in to wood calls and made quite a few out of cherry and walnut. I was engraving my calls on a friends laser engraver which he had for his personal business. After doing that for a few months I decided to buy my own Laser and hopefully connect with some other call makers and engrave their calls. I was fortunate enough to meet some people that had been doing this for a long time and would be able to sit and talk with them about calls and take their advice on making my calls better. My son Brody has moved in to making custom knives and I still turn my turkey calls one at a time by hand. We have moved in to making calls out of exotic woods but I still enjoy making turkey calls out of walnut and cherry and offering them at a reasonable price so everyone can have a custom turkey call in their vest.
